In Memoriam: Promise Tshiloane

It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the death of our beloved colleague, Promise Sanelisiwe Tshiloane, who worked as a supply assistant in the Coordination office and the Khayelitsha project.

On Friday, 4 July, around 15:00, Promise's body was discovered by the police in her flat in Parklands, Cape town. The case is still under investigation, but the police preliminary report confirms that she was killed by her husband who committed suicide afterwards in the same flat. This incident happened on the 3rd of July 2008.

Promise turned 28 on the 25th of April. She had been working with MSF since February 2006, starting in the finance department as a finance assistant, followed by a new challenge when she joined the logistic department as supply assistant. Promise was a very committed person to her job and to everything she undertook, and was very eager to learn; she always tackled new challenges with great enthusiasm. We have lost a very valuable and reliable colleague, and more importantly, we have lost a good friend.

We will miss her beautiful smile.

Our deepest sympathy goes to her family and friends and her six-year-old daughter, Landu.

The funeral service will be held in Durban this coming weekend, Saturday, 12 July 2008. A memorial service was held in her memory in Khayelitsha on Tuesday, 9 July 2008.

You can send your condolences in support of the family and friends in this difficult time to msfb-capetown@brussels.msf.org.

We wish her family strength during this trying time.
