Advocacy/Communication Officer

Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in partnership with the MoH is currently working in Shiselweni and Manzini regions to improve access to TB & HIV care. MSF also works on improving MDR TB patient management. MSF is looking for an Advocacy/Communication officer, who will be part of its Coordination team based in Mbabane (60% of the work with field teams in regions), reporting directly to the Head of Mission.

Job requirements: 
Qualification:
•    Degree in Journalism or Communication studies.
•    Post Graduate Diploma in public advocacy/humanitarian studies or related will be an asset.
•    Computer literacy.
•    Excellent writing skills in both English and siSwati.
•    Production skills (audio and video editing, publisher or coral draw)

Experience:
•    At least 3 years demonstrated experience in the same position in a complex institution. Proven record in writing and publishing articles, columns, reports, briefing papers, documents for public consumption.
•    Proven experience in (public) advocacy in the health sector is a strong asset.
•    Experience with Information Education Communication and / or Behaviour Change activities.

Principal Duties/ Responsibilities:
•    Support the Head of Mission and project coordinators in designing proper communication strategy (messaging, target groups, activity plan, resources, and network) for the mission including external messages and institutional communication.
•    Assist the Head of Mission, the coordination team and project coordinators in general in designing and implementing its advocacy strategy  and témoignage activities.
•    Maintain a network of relevant media contacts in the country and in the region, for the benefit of the activities developed as part of the project. Includes the organization of press visits to the projects and facilitate reporting on activities conducted by MSF teams. Monitoring the media outcome / impact.
•    Manage internal communication tools for the benefit of all team members.
Give technical support and advice on production with regards to Information, Education and Communication (IEC)

•    Fluency in English and SiSwati languages.
