Cloth mask production for communities of DRC to reduce the spread of COVID-19

In the times of COVID-19, it is important to use preventative measures to avoid exposure to the disease. In the region ministries of health have suggested the consistent wearing of cloth masks by the community when out in public. This is to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus droplets of fluid from people who sneeze, cough or talk. While keeping in mind social distancing and handwashing measures, wearing of masks is equally important.

The reusable masks produced by MSF in DRC are given to patients, their caretakers and non-medical employees. Our teams have started the production a few weeks ago in DRC, working with around 20 small sewing shops to produce these masks made to one of several validated templates and made of appropriate material.
