A 23-year-old woman who lost her hearing allegedly from alternative treatments after she was struck by a drug resistant strain of tuberculosis (TB-XDR) yesterday marched to the Department of Trade and Industry in Pretoria to demand the fixing of patent laws... 

Phumeza Tisile from Khayelitsha in Cape Town was joined by hundreds of other South African patients who now want the law to do away with monopolies in the health sector used to make essential medicines affordable.
