Since the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GF) cancelled its funding round in 2011, Doctors Without Borders (MSF), governments, and people affected by the three diseases have all called for international efforts to scale up HIV, TB and malaria programmes to be put back on track.

This report - now in its third edition - analyses the sources and prices of medicines used to treat drug-resistant TB (DR-TB), examines the key factors that shape the access environment for DR-TB medicines, reviews the research and development landscape for DR-TB treatment regimens, and makes recommendations for the way forward to reach more people and improve treatment outcomes.

In 2011-2012, drought and conflict caused widespread food shortages resulting in a malnutrition peak well above emergency levels in Doctors Without Borders (MSF) programs, and spurred the displacement of tens of thousands of people within south central Somalia and to Ethiopia and Kenya.
