Logistician

Logisticians keep MSF’s programmes running.
Management, supervision and training of local non-medical staff is a key responsibility.

Logisticians keep MSF’s programmes running. It's a challenging and rewarding role and you will be responsible for some or all of the following:

  • Restoring damaged hospitals
  • Setting up feeding centres
  • Organising the transport of vaccines
  • Ensuring the project’s power supply is reliable
  • Maintaining vehicles and communication systems

Logisticians also have frequent interaction with local authorities and organisations and often oversee the implementation of security protocols. Management, supervision and training of local non-medical staff is a key responsibility.
 

Working as a logistician

MSF recruits for the following logistics roles:

  • Supply logisticians provide support through management of supply chain, warehouse management, work alongside third party suppliers as well as the supervision and training of national staff.
  • Technical logistician provides technical logistical guidance to the mission through maintenance of vehicles and equipment, organising transport of goods and staff, making sure means of communication is available as well as managing local staff.
  • Construction logistician manages construction/rehabilitation projects by designing the project, defining all resources required (e.g. labour, budget and materials) as well as supervising the progress of the construction.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree 
  • Five years of proven professional experience in logistics-related roles
  • Experience in supervising and managing others in a logistics capacity
  • Available for a minimum of nine months
  • Willingness to work in unstable areas
  • Adaptable and able to work in a multicultural team
  • Flexible and able to manage stress
  • Relevant work experience in contexts similar to where MSF works (armed conflicts, disasters, public health emergencies or situations of healthcare exclusion)
