1. SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

Doctors Without Borders South Africa Mission NPC is a Global network of principled professionals who specialise in medical humanitarian work driven by our common humanity and guided by medical ethics. We work together in teams, small and large, to respond to the medical needs of people affected by conflict, disaster, epidemics, and those excluded from healthcare

Doctors without Borders seeks to employ a suitable part-time Data Entry Operator to carry out all activities related to entry of medical data into the mission database, according to MSF protocols and maintain confidentiality, to have reliable and up-to-date information.

2. OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Locate and retrieve facility-held records of Non-communicable Disease patients in MSF-supported clinics.
  • Assist the facility with maintaining the filing system.
  • Maintain and capture data in the database, ensuring accuracy and correctness.
  • Collaborate with the medical team to assimilate and capture data.
  • Update and conduct reviews of the data entry sheets and ensure the teams have the necessary tools to capture the data, like the hardcopy forms.
  • Manage the data integrity.
  • Assist stakeholders in training on data capturing or troubleshooting data management systems.
  • Assist the departments in creating spreadsheets, charts and producing reports when needed.
  • Ensure, promote and maintain confidentiality regarding all information registered.

GENERAL

  • The tasks listed above are not exhaustive. Flexibility is a qualification in a humanitarian aid organization, it may be asked of employees to perform tasks other than those listed in this Job description. According to the volume of work, these tasks may evolve, and the Data Entry Operator should be available to carry out any other tasks assigned to him/her by his/her supervisor.

3. REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education Essential Matric/ NQF Level 4 qualification
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel essential.
  • Experience in data capturing is desirable.
  • Experience working with DOH data is desirable.
  • Experience in NGO or DOH work is desirable.
  • English and IsiXhosa speakers required.
