The Citizen: ARV clubs are an effective way of relieving the system

South Africa’s health clinics are congested with thousands of patients burdened with the diseases of HIV, TB, and other infections…This puts a severe strain on medical professionals and the resources of clinics…The solution was the formation of ARV clubs.This idea was first piloted by MSF who set up the first ARV Club Model at Khayelitsha Ubuntu Clinic at the end of 2007 .These consists of over 400 clubs at 35 ART facilities catering for nearly 12 000 patients who did not have to wait in the queues for medication and treatment…Some patients send friends to collect their medication at regular intervals reducing their visits to quarterly visits…
