The recent ruling of the International Court of Justice that the situation in Gaza requires provisional measures to prevent genocidal acts is a significant step and furthers the need for an immediate and sustained ceasefire.
As the ruling of the ICJ was issued yesterday, our teams on the ground continued to witness patients unable to access the medical care they need due to repeated and persistent attacks on health care facilities and their surroundings.
Without an immediate and sustained ceasefire, the provisional measures issued by the ICJ against Israel cannot be implemented.
This suffering of the population in Gaza must stop now and we welcome any measures that can lead to civilians being spared and an increase in humanitarian aid.
