From Chains to Treatment in Liberia

When Timothy started exhibiting schizophrenic behavior for the first time, his family had no information or access to treatment for the disease. The only thing they could do to protect him was to chain him up inside their home. Luckily, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) was starting a mental health project with the Ministry of Health and was able to get Timothy on medication and out of chains.
