In moments of crisis and exclusion, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) teams strive to save lives and alleviate people’s suffering. We provide the care that we can with our colleagues, collaborators, and supporters, but in 2025, we saw growing gaps that are not ours to fill.

When people with power renege on their responsibilities and shared humanity, the communities we serve pay a high price.

Despite these challenges, our teams remained committed to providing lifesaving medical care wherever it was needed — whether in conflict zones, along migration routes, or in areas struck by disease outbreaks. This Year in Pictures captures both breaking points and moments of resilience of the people we assist and our staff: from suspending activities in parts of Haiti due to violence, to witnessing a newborn’s first breath in a maternity ward in Yemen. These images remind us that bearing witness is not only about documenting suffering—it is about creating a human connection.

The scale of people’s needs – whether due to war, internal instability, disease outbreaks, or the difficulty in accessing medical care – became further highlighted in 2025 amid a climate of aid cuts and anti-humanitarian rhetoric. MSF teams around the world worked to assist people in 72 countries, in an ongoing act of solidarity.
