Liberia
In 2025, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) supported five health facilities in Montserrado county with diagnosis, treatment, and essential medicines for people with mental health conditions and epilepsy.
We collaborated with psychosocial workers and volunteers to reduce the social stigma faced by people with neurological and mental health conditions.
We provided hospital care for children in Monrovia in the paediatric department of Barnesville health centre, a project we began in 2022, until this work was handed over to the Ministry of Health in September. We treated children in a critical condition who were admitted to the intensive care unit with severe malaria, severe acute malnutrition, or suffering from the effects of undiagnosed epilepsy.
