Projects in Southern Africa

Over the past decades MSF has and continues to run projects in Southern African countries, including eSwatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe. These projects have focused primarily on HIV/TB, healthcare for mobile and migrant populations, and sexual and gender-based violence.

How We Are Run

We are a global network owned and run by our staff, past and present. Collectively, we make sure that MSF stays true to its mission and principles. At any given time, this network has tens of thousands of members. Members of the MSF network bring their professional experience and knowledge to respond quickly and with great impact when they are needed, working in MSF projects in more than 70 countries.

Our supporters are a vital part of the network - their generosity and support helps fund everything we do. This allows us to stay independent, neutral and impartial - and to access those in greatest need quickly.

Crisis Response

Since 1971, MSF has cared for millions of people caught up in a crisis. We go where the need is greatest, be it a natural disaster, a war, an exodus of refugees or to help people excluded from healthcare.

With your help, we run hospitals and clinics, perform surgeries, battle epidemics, carry out vaccination campaigns, operate feeding centres and offer mental healthcare.

Medical Issues

We work to help the people in greatest need, wherever they are. Our medical teams carry out more than eight million patient consultations a year and our medical activities run from basic vaccination campaigns to complex surgery.

Our emergency medical work extends to neglected, forgotten diseases and long-term care for chronic conditions. We also advocate for affordable, high-quality medicines for the world's poorest people.
